Immunizations: Protecting Your Child’s Health from the Start

Vaccinations are a proven way to protect children from serious, preventable illnesses. At TPG Pediatric Urgent Care & Clinic in Sherman and Anna, TX, our board-certified pediatricians offer age-appropriate immunizations to help keep your child safe. From infancy through adolescence, vaccines play a critical role in developing immunity and preventing the spread of harmful diseases.

What Vaccines Your Child Needs

Our providers follow the immunization schedule recommended by the American Academy of Pediatrics. This schedule begins shortly after birth and continues through the teenage years. Some of the most common vaccines include:

  • DTaP (diphtheria, tetanus, and pertussis)
  • IPV (polio)
  • MMR (measles, mumps, and rubella)
  • Varicella (chickenpox)
  • Hepatitis A and B
  • Hib (Haemophilus influenzae type b)
  • Pneumococcal
  • Rotavirus
  • Meningococcal
  • HPV
  • Flu and COVID-19 (when appropriate)

Our providers will review your child’s medical history, ensure they are on track, and provide any missing doses during regular checkups.

A Gentle, Supportive Experience

Here at TPG Pediatric Urgent Care & Clinic, we understand that vaccines are unpleasant for kids and for parents. That's why our team offers a calming, comforting environment where you can have questions answered and be at ease with your child's treatment. They explain each vaccine thoroughly, use techniques that are comfortable for children, and take all steps possible to reduce stress for the visit.

Stay on Schedule, Stay Protected

Being up to date on immunizations is one of the greatest protectants of your child's long-term well-being. Vaccines eliminate the recurrence of fatal disease and reduce the likelihood of outbreaks in schools and communities. If you are not sure whether your child is up to date, a quick visit will get you back on track.

Statement on Vaccines

The physicians at TPG Pediatric Urgent Care and Clinic stand firm in their belief that vaccines are safe and a highly effective way to prevent serious illnesses.  The illnesses that our current vaccines work to prevent are not just illnesses that may cause fever or a rash, but they may cause serious complications requiring hospitalization, surgical procedures, or even death. Our society today has the privilege of not experiencing a majority of these illnesses due to previous and current vaccine recommendations.  The current measles outbreak is proof that vaccines are effective as the majority of those contracting measles are not vaccinated.

The vaccine hesitancy trend has continued to gather strength over the last few years based on several fear factor myths.  Research and clinical practice over the years have proven the following facts:

  • vaccines are safe
  • vaccines are effective
  • vaccines do not cause autism
  • vaccines do not contain harmful preservatives, including thimerosal
  • medical providers do not receive “kickbacks” from the pharmaceutical companies

We understand that you as a parent must do what you feel best for your child.  We are happy to discuss our reasoning behind our recommendation to vaccinate your child with all the current/required vaccines as outlined by the American Academy of Pediatrics.  If you still do not agree with those recommendations, we encourage you to seek medical care elsewhere as that decision creates a conflict of the doctor-patient relationship and this conflict creates issues moving forward with the overall care of your child.

Sincerely,

The Physicians at TPG Pediatric Urgent Care and Clinic

The above statement is not a clinic policy, but simply a statement regarding our Physicians’ strong opinion towards the benefit and safety of vaccinations. Please feel free to talk to our Doctors and Nurse Practitioners with any questions or concerns. We do not discriminate or refuse care to patients based solely on vaccine hesitation or refusal.
